The new hotel classification places particular emphasis on respect for the environment and sustainable development, with a significant increase in the number of criteria, from 13 to 27. The framework includes concrete actions to encourage eco-responsible practices.

The criteria cover four main areas. On the energy front, measures such as the use of low-energy light bulbs and initiatives to reduce energy consumption are required. In terms of water management, establishments must adopt systems that limit consumption in washrooms and encourage practices that reduce excessive washing of linen. Waste reduction is also central, with the implementation of solutions for sorting, recycling and reusing materials such as linen. Lastly, particular attention is paid to the overall management of the establishments, notably through training for permanent staff (minimum 3 hours) and raising awareness of these practices among seasonal workers or subcontractors. Displaying low-impact means of transport is also encouraged.
